HERTS' indoor bowlers remain in the chase for Courtenay Cup League honours after beating the Oxfordshire IBA last Thursday.

John Hart's men won the match at the Oxford & District club by 136 shots to 105 after taking five of the six rinks.

Immediate past president Terry Whitehead was a member of the county's highest winning rink. Whitebread, Alan Cross and Dave Ratcliffe all played their part in a 31-12 victory.

Riverain bowler Tony Webb, meanwhile, was called up for an England trial before Christmas.

Webb has also reached the last 16 of the Champion of Champions competition for the second year running and will play at Warners Gunton Hall next month.
