WGC athlete Stephanie Gaynor was "happy" to have become the fastest U20 women's 60m hurdler so far this year as she won gold on Saturday.

The Stanborough School student clocked a personal best of 8.52 seconds to win the U20 women's 60m hurdles final at the England Athletics U20 Indoor Championships.

After claiming her title, Stephanie said: "I'm so happy because it's been a number of years since I won this one and that time is really pleasing."

Herts Phoenix coach and Steph's father Colin was also impressed by his daughter's improvement.

He added: "I knew she was looking good from her training times, but even I did not expect her to go that fast!"

The time not only made Steph the fastest in her age group at the event nationally this season, it was also the eighth fastest 60m hurdles time of any British women in the UK so far this year.
