A magnificent seven Herts Phoenix athletes took to the start line at the prestigious British Championship.

Held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, and doubling as trials for the European Championship in Berlin, the figure set a club record at the event.

Rio Olympian Jodie Williams looked back to somewhere near her best when she finished third in the 200m final behind Beth Dobbin and Bianca Williams.

Sister Hannah Williams just missed out on the final of the 400m after her second place was only good enough to be the fifth fastest loser where four went through.

Eighteen-year-old Sam Woodley was 11th throwing a discus 2kg heavier than usual.

Eden Davis was down on his PB and failed to advance beyond the 100m heats.

Khahisa Mhlanga, 18, came fifth in her 800m heat and Eloise Meakins sixth in the javelin.

Lauren Thompson was unable to start in the 400m hurdles heat following a hamstring injury.
