YOUNGSTERS from Herts Phoenix AC were selected to represent Hertfordshire in the South of England Inter Counties Cross-Country Championships. Lizzie Parry finished 24th for the Under-13 girls in 11 minutes 24 seconds over 3,000m for the club at the event

YOUNGSTERS from Herts Phoenix AC were selected to represent Hertfordshire in the South of England Inter Counties Cross-Country Championships.

Lizzie Parry finished 24th for the Under-13 girls in 11 minutes 24 seconds over 3,000m for the club at the event held at Shuttleworth Park, Old Warden, Bedfordshire.

In the Under-17 women's race over 5,000m, Ella Fuller crossed the line in 22nd with a time of 21 mins 08 secs.

Laura Whitehead was 12th in the Under-20 women's 6,000m race after clocking 25 mins 41 secs.

Natasha Taylor was the 29th runner home in the senior women's 6,000m event with 24 mins 47 secs.

Vasudev Zaver represented Herts in the Under-15 boys' competition across 4,000m.

He came in 27th position with 14 mins 40 secs.

For the Under-17 men, David Wilson clocked 17 mins 13 secs over the 6,000m course to take 20th place.

The South of England Masters Championships were also held at this meeting.

In the male 40+ 10,000m, Robin Baynham took 103rd position after running a time of 43 mins 14 secs.

A trio from the club lined up in the male 50+ competition over 10,000m.

Norman Morrison was the first for the club home in 23rd place with 37 mins 18 secs.

He was followed by Peter Fitzpatrick in 41st with 39 mins 30 secs and then Richard Foskett in 64th with a time of 41 mins 44 secs. The team finished sixth.

Stuart Mann came 17th in the male 60+ 10,000m in 42 mins 22 secs.

Richard Bloom was 24th with 44 mins 29 secs, Mike Dixon 31st in 44 mins 58 secs and Alun Stedman was 44th in 47 mins 23 secs. The Phoenix team finished fifth.

Finally in the male 70+ 6,000m, John Steed crossed the finish line fourth in 32 mins 02 secs.
