HERTS' Courtenay Cup County League campaign suffered a blow away to Berkshire last Thursday.

The Hertfordshire Indoor Bowls Association lost the match against their Berkshire counterparts by 135 shots to 102 at the Desborough club in Maidenhead.

The visitors collected just three points from the match to Berkshire's 12 after winning only one rink, with another drawn at 18 shots apiece.

"This was a game we needed to win to keep us on track," said Herts IBA press officer and past president Alan Fergusson, a Hatfield bowler. "But I am afraid we missed out."

The county's top rink included treasurer and past president Terry Whitebread, along with Brian Bowman, Dave Radcliffe and Dave Brooks. They won their rink 22-15.

Mick Harman from the Herts club received his colts badge for playing his first game for the county.
