Herts county darts team continue their resurgence

HERTFORDSHIRE darts side are up to fifth in the County League Table after an impressive 25-14 win away at Montgomery & Radnor.
On day one the Ladies B team got the game under way with was Amanda Essam (Hoddesdon) playing her first encounter of the season with a very good 3-0 win.
Another two wins by WGC’s Lynne Taylor and Gemma Sherdel both 3-1 gave the ladies a 3-0 lead. But two setbacks with Jo Kitchen and Janet Ginger both losing 3-0 made the score 3-2.
On last was Hatfield player Tracy Tarsey who had her best game for Hertfordshire winning 3-0 with a 22.43 average plus winning the Match Award.
This gave the Ladies B team a 4-2 win there second successive win.
The Men’s B then started by taking a 3-0 lead with wins by Alfie Smith playing his first game of the season 3-0 starting with a 112 finish in the first leg, another good win by Hatfield’s Johnathan Creed 3-0 and David Valentine triumphing 3-2.
Next up was Alan Weist; a 100 finish in the first leg then a win the next leg saw it at 2-0 only for him to lose the next three legs for a 3-2 defeat.
Then followed another six wins by Jason Neville (3-2) Dean Harwood (3-1), Daniel Ovens (3-0), Dan Mitchell (3-1), Ron Green (3-1) and Hatfield man John Creed (3-1) also claiming the Match Award.
Next up was unlucky loser number two Barry Currant who had a 167 finish in the first leg and was 2-1 in front but eventually lost 3-2 in an excellent game.
Steve Davis was on last and triumphed 3-1 to give the Men’s B team a 10-2 victory and an overall 14-4 lead going into day two’s games.
The Ladies A team had a game they would like to forget as first Debbie Essam lost 3-1, Jo Brosnan quickly followed going down 3-0 and although Tracy Tarsey, promoted into the A team lost 3-2, she was very unlucky to lose out in the final leg.
Jodie Alligan restored some pride by winning 3-1 and the Match Award.
This was followed by Herts’ two most experienced players Jane Phillips who lost 3-1 and WGC’s Kathy Ovens who, after being 2-0 in front was defeated 3-2.
This gave the hosts a 5-1 win plus reducing Herts’ overall lead to 15-9
The Men’s A also started off by leading 3-0 with man-of the-match Tony Tarry winning 3-1, Steve Hartley triumphing 3-0, and Dave Meader securing a 3-2 success.
Ian Clarkson could not get going was first to lose 3-0 but the lead was restored by Hatfield’s Mark Elliot winning 3-2. But captain Peter Kosmalski went down 3-2.
John Blair continued his fine winning run triumphing 3-1 including a 102 finish, plus George Wilkinson won 3-1.
Peter Brown (1-3) and John McGuirk (0-3) both fell to defeat, but Robin Wigg made it 7-4 with 3-0 win. Although Damian Green lost 3-0 the Men’s A team won 7-5 and a 22-14 win with the three bonus points it gave Herts a 25-14 overall win.
