A HERTS indoor bowls team defeated their Cambridgeshire counterparts by 152 shots to 86 in a friendly match at the Cheshunt Indoor Bowls Club.

The Herts team won on five rinks, losing on just one, and that was by only one shot.

It was a competent and professional performance by the bowlers from Herts, and for a change the top rink was not the president's one.

That honour went to treasurer Terry Whitebread, Cheshunt's R Munrown and Hatfield indoor duo Graham Marriner and Bob Stares, winning 31-10.

One colts badge was awarded to Alan Brotherton, whilst a full county blazer badge was handed to David Graham.

A Herts county indoor team are due to be in action tomorrow (Wednesday) when they take on Kent in Bromley.
