SEVEN Under-15 players featured in a Titanic struggle for Hatfield on Sunday.

Despite the make up of the youthful Hatfield team, the Broadview Widows North Herts League match went the distance and Keven Whitehead's young guns can be rightly proud of their performance in defeat.

The Ascots Lane side elected to bat first and scored 168 from their 40 overs with 16-year-old Ben Golder hitting 76.

He received good support from Andy Ashley-Smith (28) and Whitehead (21).

Titanic lost early wickets to the slow left-arm of Gareth Wynne (3-21) in reply, but were always up with the run rate.

All the youngsters had a bowl and the match nearly went down to the wire, with Titanic just reaching the total for the loss of seven wickets with one over remaining.
