Hatfield & Crusaders fell to a first defeat of the season in a tight contest at home to Holtwhites Trinibis.

The hosts made a strong start with the openers Yugal Kalaskar and Anil Madduri racing to 34 after eight overs.

Both fell in quick succession and although Amit Singh and Deepak Hasiza tried to rebuild, H&C were struggling at 94-6.

Ben Clark and Sam Edge salvaged the innings with a composed 51-run partnership, calmly rotating the strike and running purposefully between the wickets.

Edge top-scored from the pair, before eventually being run out for 53 as Hatfield made 188-9 in their 50 overs.

But Holtwhites got to their target with just over four overs remaining, despite two wickets each for Rory Gethin-Golder and Amit Singh.

The seconds also fell short in a high-scoring contest at Boxmoor.

The hosts managed 275-8 and in reply H&C were all out for 241 in the 45th over.

The thirds lost to Hoddesdon despite 32 with the bat and 2-21 with the ball from Clive Starr.
