Hatfield-based coach of Olympic divers honoured with prestigious Jeff Cook Salver award by ASA East Region Swimming

Hatfield-based diving coach Derek Beaumont has won the Jeff Cook Salver at the ASA Eastern Region swimming awards.

A prestigious regional swimming award has this year gone to Derek Beaumont.

The Jeff Cook Salver is awarded to the individual, team or club who has made a significant contribution to the sport within the ASA East Region.

And Beaumont, who runs his own diving school based in Hatfield, was this year’s recipient.

He was been involved in the sport as a diver and coach for over 50 years, sending athletes to six different Olympics and six different Commonwealth Games.

In choosing him, the awards committee said: “His enthusiasm and dedication has enabled hundreds of divers of all ages to participate and enjoy the sport and achieve their potential.

“Success continues for Derek as his divers regularly participate and win medals at a host of regional and national events.

“But he still finds time to run the Herts School competition each year, focusing on the development of divers at grassroots level.”
