Now in their third year since merging, Hatfield and Crusaders Cricket Club are in optimistic mood ahead of the upcoming season which begins next month.

The Ascots Lane side are running four Saturday teams in the re-structured Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League, with the top Hatfield and Crusaders side competing in Divisions 5A, with the rest in 6A, 10A and 10B.

Heath Bond has been named new first XI captain. Bond’s experience will hopefully help with the first team as well as the youngsters, with the return of age-group cricket following its’ absence for several years.

Due to Alex Digby’s coaching and commitment, a youth team will therefore be entered into the Herts Junior League at U13B level

As well as several changes on-field, there has also been improvements off it with extensive work undertaken by a large group of volunteers to renovate both the interior and exterior of the clubhouse.

Finally, although the club’s Registration Evening took place on April 10, new players are always welcome, and there remains plenty of time for further recruits before the league gets underway on May 9. More information can be found at www.hatfieldcc.co.uk.
