COUNTY bowls president John Hart had the satisfaction of seeing his Herts select team beat the Harrow & District BA at the Watford indoor club last month.

Herts' indoor bowlers won the friendly match by a comfortable 148-94 margin after winning on five of the six rinks.

The county's only losing rink were unable to finish as they ran out of time.

The Herts IBA's top rink, which wasn't decided until the very last end, contained Hatfield bowler E Vaughan alongside the Harpenden duo of Bert Sumner and Dave Radcliffe and Cheshunt club member Dell Baker. They won by 33 shots to 15.

* Hatfield's bowlers beat Lupton at home by 108 shots to 55.

The highest winning rink for the College Lane club was Ann Grimwood, Ray Martin, Jean Flay and skip Richard Lush with a score of 30-11.
