Hannah Botterman and Zoe Harrison make debut for England in Canada romp

The players, who both turned out for Welwyn in their junior days with Botterman having started her career at Dacthworth, were named on the bench for the first match in a three-game series against the Canucks.

And Harrison got her moment after 62 minutes of the second half at Allianz Park, with Botterman appearing six minutes later in the 79-5 England win.

Harrison took over the kicking duties when she arrived and added two conversions as England closed the game out.

The rest of the game belonged to the debutant wingers, and especially Harlequins’ Jess Breach.

She showed pace normally associated with the athletics track to blitz in for three tries in the first half, and a further three in the second.

Abigail Dow added two more as England crossed the whitewash a total of 13 times.

Rachael Burford, Amy Cockayne, Marlie Packer, Rocky Clark and Ellie Kildunne added the others with Cindy Nelles getting Canada’s consolation.

The sides meet again on Tuesday at the Twickenham Stoop before the final game at Twickenham on Saturday, after the men have played Samoa.
