LEWIS Hamilton has taken the lead in today's Turkish Grand Prix in Istanbul.

The 23-year-old Tewin driver overtook race leader Felipe Massa on lap 23 with a magnificent pass.

Hamilton had pitted earlier than expected on lap 17, three before Ferrari driver Massa, who started from pole.

McLaren master Hamilton, possibly on a three-stop strategy, had pulled seven seconds clear of Massa after 31 of the 58 laps.

Reigning world champion Kimi Raikkonen, the other Ferrari driver, was 16 seconds behind in third.
