Green Belt Motor Club honoured 15 of their own at the annual presntation dinner.

Welham Green’s Niall Moroney was second in the club’s championship for drivers on single venue stages rallies.

Along with co-driver Elgan Davies, one of his best results was eighth overall on the hotly-contested Tendering & Clacton Rally.

The event, the first car rally to be held on closed public roads in England, saw them drive a Subaru Impreza that had previously been driven by 1995 World Rally Champion Colin McRae.

Club chairman Malcolm Wise made a short speech, proposing the toast of the club and reviewing Green Belt’s 2018 activities.

He also noted that the club had suffered a great loss when president Gerry Thurlow passed away.

He finihsed: “GBMC is a good club dedicated to the promotion of motor sport and we look forward to another successful year.”
