Applications are being received for the Hatfield Community Sports Fund which aims to help improve sport and leisure in Hatfield.

Run by Welwyn Hatfield Council, the fund is there "to help clubs and organisations deliver professional, quality, safe and affordable sports and leisure services to the residents and organisations of Hatfield".

It is open to anyone in the town and also Welham Green and comes in the form of two options.

The sport specific major grant project fund is ring fenced for rugby union and football funding applications only and any application must have support from the governing body, wither the RFU or the FA.

Examples of projects that will be funded include those involving construction of new facilities like a new artificial pitch or the building of a new changing room.

There is also the small grants project and sports development fund which could help purchase equipment or put people onto coaching courses for example.
