KNEBWORTH Park's 4th XI made it two wins in a row with a comfortable victory over Old Owens 2nds to leap four places in clawing away from the drop zone in Herts Division Eight.

After winning the toss, the Park elected to field and were soon making inroads into the Potters Bar-based side's batting line-up.

Guy Johnson made the breakthrough, trapping an Owens opener lbw.

Wickets began to fall regularly with all the Park bowlers enjoying success.

Johnson was the pick of them, finishing with 3-33.

There were also two wickets apiece for Stuart Dempsey (2-43) Ross Courtney (2-10) and Ed Emsley (2-6), with Bill Thorne (1-12) picking up the other.

They were ably assisted in the field by Andrew Martin, who finished with four catches as Owens were dismissed for 109.

The Park initially made life difficult for themselves in reply, falling to 14-3, before Ian and Mark Woods steadied the ship. Ian Woods was dismissed for 22.

This was to be the last wicket to fall though as Mark Woods (46 not out) and Bret Painter (37 not out) saw Park home to give them a six-wicket win.
