TEENAGE WGC golfer Tom Lewis has been named in the GB and Ireland squad for the Jacques Leglise Trophy.

The competition is an annual international match played between two selected teams of nine amateur boy golfers representing Great Britain & Ireland and the Continent of Europe.

The encounter will take place on Friday for two days at the Kingsbarn course, St Andrews.

The selection of the 17-year-old Welwyn Garden City player follows his appearance in the British Boys' Championship.

Earlier in the season Lewis was second in the Fairhaven Trophy and third in the Brabazon Trophy.

Elsewhere, Ryan Newman, 19, of Brookmans Park, has been selected as one of a group of 14 players representing the English Golf Union in the European Amateur Championships at Esjberg Golf Club in Denmark.
