Thirteen Garden City Runners travelled north to take on the Hitchin Town Centre 5K – Paul Guy leading them home in third overall, good enough for the MV40 win.

Sean Bowen was second in the MV50 category while the first GCR lady across the line was Hannah Ahmet, taking sixth in her age category.

Brad Smith took on the Berlin Marathon, which starts and ends at the Bradenburg Gate.

Rain made for testing course conditions but he still managed to finish in a commendable three hours 41 minutes 22 seconds.

Helen Moyes tackled the first running or the Great East Run, a half marathon around Ipswich, and she finished in 1:58:30.

And there was also half marathon action for Elaine Giles who ran 2:13:51 in Ealing.

Patrick and Virginia Bird together with Tim Cooke were at the 10K at St Pauls Walden, near Hitchin and Patrick was seventh overall.
