Garden City Runners record a fabulous second place at the 'Glastonbury for Runners'

Garden City Runners were out in force at Endure 24 - a popular event held in Reading known as 'Glastonbury for Runners'.

It involves individuals, pairs and teams completing as many five-mile laps as possible in a 24-hour period.

Paul Guy, Chris Homes, Tom Wakett, Russell Casey, Becca Hayden, Chris Eland, Martha Hall and Mark Green did a remarkable job in coming second overall out of 227 teams, with a total of 41 laps.

The other big event was the St Albans Half Marathon where 14 GCRs took part.

And Neil Hume managed fifth position out of the field of 2,285 in a time of one hour 15 minutes 14 seconds.

The first lady was Hannah Ahmet who smashed her previous time by a full five minutes with a PB of 1:41:24.

Also finishing the course for the club were Sean Bowen, Andrew Holt, Emma Ferry, James Dunmore, Christopher Harbron, Neil Matthews, Tom Weatherhead, Barbara Kubis-Laiak, James Aitchison, Nick Atkinson, Tony Harden and Andrew Deamer.
