Garden City Runners’ inaugural parkrun tour a roaring success

Garden City Runners have hailed their inaugural parkrun tour as a success.

Sixteen made the trip out west to Tring for a hilly off-road course in warm conditions.

Paul Guy was the first GCR into the funnel, finishing fifth in a time of 19 minutes 11 seconds, with group leader Richard Somerset nine places and exactly two minutes behind.

The next parkrun tour is due in September.

Elsewhere Tim Cooke and Tom Weatherhead travelled to Cambridgeshire for the Riverside Runners 31st Anniversary 10K while three GCRs, Neil Hume, Craig Brown and James Huish, tackled the Sri Chimnoy Silver Starling 5K in Battersea Park.

And Chris Eland completed the gruelling Bob Graham Round Challenge, a fell run in the Lake District covering 66 miles and climbing 27,000 feet over 42 peaks.

He completed it in 22 hours 58 minutes and helped raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
