WELWYN Wheelers' Under-12 racer Joseph Fry claimed first place in the British Cycling Youth Omnium Series held in WGC.

The youngster was in outstanding form in his age-group.

He won three out of the four events for a comfortable victory by a margin of eight points.

Welwyn Wheelers riders were also prominent in other results of the youth meeting at Gosling Sports Park.

The field of 97 riders were split into the various age groups.

They all had a tough days racing in blustery conditions.

Fine Welwyn riders results are a credit to the hard work put in by the racers and the club's strong coaching team

In the Under-16 category of 28 competitors Tom Gallacher, Ben Bailey and Dan Snow finished fourth, fifth and sixth in a strong field.

Gallacher just missed out on third place by two points.

Cameron Howard was third overall in the Under-14 boy's group.

Behind him were Ryan Owens in sixth and Ollie Plumley eighth out of 19 riders.

Tom Durkin claimed second spot in the 15-strong Under-10 category.

Michael Parry came fourth, Tom Street fifth and Isabel Scott seventh.

Bethany Hayward claimed an Under-14 girl's sixth place while Chloe Evans took ninth.
