WGC 116-0 Radlett DNB - match abandoned

THE rain overshadowed a superb batting performance from WGC's Dan Blacktopp on Saturday.

The wicketkeeper-batsman hit a half-century before WGC's match against Radlett was abandoned.

Both teams were awarded six points in Division One of the HCPL, a score that both teams won't be too happy with.

After being put into bat by Radlett skipper Shane Burger on a day where the weather forecast was dire, the Digswell Park club had batted themselves into a near impregnable position when the persistent rain began.

Opener Blacktopp, who looked particularly impressive with seven fours and one six in an 80 minute knock, finished with an unbeaten 65.

The usually aggressive James Hewitt was this time content to adopt the minor role and progressed to an untroubled 48 not out.

The rain came and after 12.40pm no further play was possible to thwart WGC's ambition to pick up points from their county rivals from Cobden Hill.
