Hatfield Hyde 59-1 Botany Bay - match abandoned

HATFIELD Hyde were frustrated by the weather on Saturday as their match against bottom-of-the-table Botany Bay was abandoned due to rain.

Hyde were hoping to pick up 30 points that would have been key to their survival this season against the Herts Division Four strugglers.

Despite the poor forecast and wet conditions, the match did manage to begin at King George V after a delay and on winning the toss, the visitors decided to bowl first.

Opener Iain McCann and Kev Gray got Hyde off to a promising start before McCann got a good ball and edged to second slip.

Gray and Ryan King attacked though and Hyde were in control at 59-1 from just 11 overs when rain halted proceedings and the match could not continue.

Hatfield Hyde will hope to pick up some vital league points when they travel to Northampton Exiles this coming Saturday.
