Four triple bashing for Welwyn in St Albans

WELWYN & District Bowls Club lost on all four triples to St Albans (Clarence Park) last Wednesday. The hosts won the match by 98 shots to 41. On the same afternoon Welwyn s men hosted a four triples match against de Havilland, winning by 87 shots to 44.

On the same afternoon Welwyn's men hosted a four triples match against de Havilland, winning by 87 shots to 44.

The top triple for Welwyn was Andy Scholes, Graham Hart and Arthur Knight with a 27-12 card.

Welwyn played a six mixed triples match at home against Hoddesdon Rosehill on Saturday, winning by 110 shots to 90.

Top triple for Welwyn was Frank Lane, Barbara Marvell and Sue Wingham with a 23-10 win.

Welwyn's men fared no better than the club's women when they tackled St Albans (Clarence Park) in a four rinks match at home on Sunday, losing 79-67 on shots.

The top rink for Welwyn of Ray Uffen, Nigel Noel, Barry Smith and Brian Smith won 24 shots to 18.

The Welwyn ladies played two rinks against their St Albans counterparts and also lost, the Clarence Park club winning by 49 shots to 27.
