Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton qualified second fastest for the 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit as Nico Rosberg stole pole position ahead of Sunday’s title showdown.

It is the German’s 11th pole position of the season.

After dominating the first two phases of qualifying, Hamilton was beaten by title rival Rosberg in the top 10 shootout.

The result marks the 18th pole of the season for Mercedes, with P2 for Hamilton completing the team’s 12th front row lockout.
