TITLE-chasing Sherrardswood Yellows Under-11s kept up their chances of winning the league championship with a 7-2 victory over local rivals Herts Signs.

Despite the final score, the Mid Herts Rural Minors League Division Two match was much closer than the result suggests.

After an early goal from Reggie Ross, Herts Signs equalised almost immediately and had the better of the first half.

And it was only Yellows' man-of-the-match Ryan Sullivan, deputising in goal, that kept the scores level at the break.

In a hard-fought derby match, the score was finely balanced at 2-2 going into the final 15 minutes.

But Yellows then found the extra skill required in front of goal to score five times to take the points.

Both teams are now away at the Butlins football festival next week where their paths could again cross.

Yellows are three points behind leaders Potters Bar Crusaders Raiders at the top of the league.
