SHERRARDSWOOD Yellows Under-10s proved a 7-1 defeat to Panshanger Lions a fortnight ago was just one of those days by defeating them 1-0 in the return fixture.

Reggie Ross scored the only goal of the game as Yellows avenged last month's heavy defeat.

Yellows battled against a strong wind in the first half, but started brightly with Robert Wells, Glenn Gleeson and Reggie Ross all going close in the opening five minutes.

With 10 minutes gone, keeper Harry Rember made a smart save and from his long kick Gleeson held the ball up well and played in Ross, who drove the ball into the far corner for the opening goal.

Minutes later it was nearly two, but a great volley from Regan Still flew inches wide.

Panshanger were still in the game and Wells had to clear from his own line.

Yellows, however, created more chances with the Panshanger keeper saving again from Ross and Ryan Sullivan.

The second half followed much the same pattern with Yellows having the edge with the wind at their backs.

Luke Foster and Robbie Crawford were solid in defence, with Charlie Hayne supporting well.

Gleeson turned well and was inches wide before Yellows missed a penalty.

In the final minutes Elis Woodford saw a flicked header saved and Still had an effort cleared off line.
