POTTERS Bar United Whites Under-12s have completed an incredible unbeaten season - albeit with a twist at the end.

The Potters Bar boys, who had scored an incredible 114 league goals in just 17 games, were awarded a victory against their final opponents, the Ware Youth Whites, even though they never had to kick a ball!

That is because Ware notified the league last Friday that they couldn't fulfil their fixtures, and so Potters Bar ended the season undefeated.

Team co-manager Andrew Dawson-Goodey was disappointed not to end the season in style on the pitch.

He said: "Obviously we wanted to play and get another win, so the lads were fairly disappointed."

What's more remarkable is that this is only the second season the boys have played together, and last year's campaign could not have been more different.

For the Whites won only two games all season in Division Two of the Rural Friendly League, based in the Cheshunt area.

Dawson-Goodey is delighted with the turnaround in fortunes of the team.

He said: "The boys have really enjoyed their football this season.

"It's really fantastic to see the improvement of the team, especially as it's much of the same side as last season.
