In the Ultimate Football Welwyn Garden City Monday night six-a-side league, the game of the night was played out between Academy Rejects and Wheeler Dealers.

Tom Gajjar opened the scoring midway through the first half but a determined Matt Wren forced an equaliser just before the break.

The second half was quite a tactical display from both teams although Wheeler Dealers just edged the possession and a tenacious effort from man of the match Dan Dixon gave James Wheelers’ men the points, keeping them at the top of the table.

Meanwhile it was second against third as Steve Charles’ Blackpool faced My Dixie.

First-half goals from Jack Hague and Ben Smith put Dixie in the driving seat but Blackpool were much more of a threat in the second period.

David Willis netted for the orange jersey outfit but with less than five minutes to play Smith’s second sealed the Dixie victory.

Motherwell thumped Boca Seniors 7-1 with four goals from Josh Manhood.

Player-manager Mark Norman added two and there was one for Eddy Webb. Tom Bundy netted a consolation effort for Boca late on.

Inter FC took the win over Smakosze St Albans thanks to a Lee Newman goal although there was little between the two sides.

Colonel Getafe 2.0 overcame Leg Day Pending 4-2 with Alfie Spalding netting the pick of the goals for Billy Groves’ side.

Charlie Bacon’s Hedgehog FC managed a straight-forward 3-0 win over Neverbee Athletic, keeping them ahead of FC Big Fan on goal difference at the top of League One.

Oliver Jamieson and Chris Houghton kept Big Fan in touch with a 2-0 win over Volvo Selekt.

It was the story of the Cornwall brothers in the match between Two Goals One Cup and Mark Beard FC.

Two goals from Tom and one for James and Michael were sufficient for Daniel Griffin’s men to cancel out those scored by Niall Quinn at the other end, lifting the improving outfit off the bottom of the table in the process.

League fixtures resume on June 5 due to the bank holiday.
