Prominent Welwyn Garden City players seem to have suggested that manager Adam Fisher is not the only one to have left the Herns Lane football club.
Fisher resigned citing “budgeting issues” as well as “completely different ambitions” between himself and the club.
The club have yet to respond but a statement is apparently in the process of being prepared and it has also been confirmed to WHTSport that match day secretary, and Adam’s mum, Karen Fisher has also resigned.
But it would appear that a number of star players have also left the club according to posts they themselves put on Twitter.
Top scorer Stu Zanone said: “Back playing at step 4 and currently sat on 28 goals, but unfortunately my time at WGC is over. Gutted the manager and players have all left so it’s time to move on.”
Last year’s top scorer Jon Clements said: “January sale. Step five striker available at a discounted rate,” while Dan Bond added: “It’s been a pleasure and a great group of lads. WGC FC, time to move on.”
Midfielder Ben Spaul was a bit more cryptic but still seemed to confirm a departure.
He said: “Winter break has started. Funny old game football.”
Playmaker Nick Elliott also spoke of leaving when he said: “WGC FC, what do I do on Saturdays now?”
