WGC Youth Under-14s just beat Watton Youth 4-3 in an exciting seven-goal thriller on Sunday.

The young Citizens certainly had to keep their wits about them in a fast-paced match.

Watton opened the scoring 15 minutes into the first half after putting the Citizens under pressure.

This was followed by another goal from the Watton boys five minutes later.

Welwyn Garden City kept up the pace and were rewarded when the Watton keeper kicked the ball away from the goal, but this was met by Mikey Hetherington, who slammed the ball firmly back into the net.

Coming out in the second half 2-1 down gave Welwyn all the incentive they needed.

A long run from Ross Evans on the left followed by a precision pass was met by Andy Bowden, who placed the ball into the back of the net for WGC's equaliser.

Watton weren't going to be beaten easily and a massive throw found one of their players and bounced into the net for 3-2.

WGC pulled out all the stops again and a well-placed pass from Gregor Mackintosh to man-of-the-match Evans gave Garden City another goal, squaring the match at 3-3.

City finally took the lead when an Evans cross to Mackintosh was passed back again to Evans and he powered the ball into the back of the net.
