Welwyn Pegasus U14 Royals celebrate their Panshanger Tournament success.

Welwyn Pegasus U14 Royals won their third straight Panshanger Tournament after an epic group stage, a nail-biting semi-final and an extremely-close final.

They were up against MHRML Premier Division champions Chars Youth, as well as Letchworth Garden City, Risden Wood, Panshanger Pumas, Ware Youth and King George FC in their group.

And they gave a glimpse of what was to come with five wins, including a 3-0 win over Chars Youth, and a draw.

The semi-final put them against Bishop’s Stortford where they were heading out until an equaliser from Josh Staddon just 10 seconds from time.

The shootout that followed saw Tommy Smith pull off three great saves before Fin Kelly scored the winner.

Chars were once again their opponents and this one went to extra-time.

With two minutes to go Jack Wiltshire seemed to have won it for Pegasus but a last-minute Chars penalty provided late drama.

However, as he had in the semi-final, Smith made a great stop and the final whistle confirmed Welwyn’s win.
