Welwyn Garden City whip Winslow United to move further ahead of league rivals

Welwyn Garden City went nine points clear at the top of Spartan South Midlands League Division One after a crushing 8-0 victory at Winslow United.

The hosts did not look in danger in the opening exchanges, especially when Sean Bretell’s average penalty was saved.

WGC finally found the opener on 22 minutes through Marc Arnott and from there, they bossed proceedings.

By half-time it was 5-0 after Arnott struck again and Joel Norris had hammered home a 13-minute treble.

The onslaught relented into the second half until the final seven minutes when Arnott completed his hat-trick, Norris got his fourth and substitute Yasin Boodhoo headed an eighth.
