Welwyn Garden City have announced that 12 of their title-winning squad will stay at Herns Lane for their historic new season.

The Citizens raced to promotion from the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division as well as the championship.

And it is clear that the success and elevation to the Southern League Division One Central for Adam Fisher’s team is something that the players want to be remain part of.

A statement of the club’s website said: “We are pleased to announce the players from our championship-winning side from last year that have been retained for our new adventure at step 4 so far.

“They are: Jay Rolfe, Dave Corran, Yasin Boodhoo, Danny Payne, Ben Spaull, Nick Elliott, Johnny Sexton, George Ironton, Dan Bond, Josh Bronti, Ash Kersey and Jon Clements.”

Two have moved on, however.

Goalkeeper Charlie May is heading to Colney Heath while Paul Marks has rejoined Edgware Town.
