WELWYN Garden City stormed to their biggest SSML Division One win of the season so far with a 4-0 drubbing of bottom side Sun Postal Sports at Herns Lane last night (Tuesday).

The hosts edged the first half-an-hour without scoring as Daryl Smith, Leigh Nymm and Joe Brunt all had goes at goal.

City got their noses in front five minutes before the break.

Brunt jinked his way into the box before finding strike partner Smith who controlled and lashed the ball beyond keeper Adam Connolly.

The game as a contest was ended when Nymm headed home a corner from the right 15 minutes into the second half.

It was Nymm’s third goal in as many league matches.

Brunt had a goal chalked off for offside before substitute Ade Asobu netted a penalty after being tripped in the area on 87 miuntes.

Sports were then reduced to 10-men as Loui Bamgboyle was sent-off for picking up a second yellow card for dissent.

In injury time the rout was rounded off as a Nymm crossed a free-kick from by the corner flag to the near post where Jonathan Walsh touched it home.

The victory moved WGC up to ninth in the league table.

They host leaders Harpenden Town at Herns Lane on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
