EIGHT-MAN Wanderers were narrowly beaten 4-3 by Welwyn Campus in the Welwyn Hatfield Sunday Football League.

It was always going to be a difficult game for Wanderers, who began with three men down.

Unsurprisingly, they soon found themselves a goal behind, but were certainly making a game of it.

A dubious penalty was then awarded against them, which was scored. However, straight from the restart Wanderers pulled one back.

From the centre, the ball was rolled to Marc Arnott and from the halfway line he lobbed the Campus keeper in fine style.

On the stroke of half-time amazingly Wanderers levelled.

Len Hart was felled in the box, a spot-kick penalty was given which Mark Hemmings netted.

The eight-men held on until midway through the second period when Campus netted two in quick succession.

Hemmings made it 4-3 late on, but Wanderers could not quite rescue a point.
