A waterlogged pitch

Football matches across Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Potters Bar and beyond were postponed on Saturday and Sunday due to waterlogged pitches.

In the Southern League Division One Central, Potters Bar Town’s clash at Petersfield was called-off.

The Scholars will hope to return to action on Saturday at home to Barton Rovers in the league.

It was the same story of postponements in the Spartan South Midlands League.

In the Premier Division, Welwyn Garden City’s trip to Hoddesdon Town was cancelled, while Codicote’s visit to New Bradwell St Peter in Division One suffered the same fate.

The Gosling Stadium pitch was also deemed unplayable putting paid to Hatfield Town’s Herts Senior Centenary Trophy tie with Chipperfield Corinthians.

The Herts Senior County League fixture list was hit with only one Premier Division match going ahead and only two completed in Division One.

Just two Welwyn Hatfield Sunday Football League games were contested with one of those a county cup encounter played in north Herts.
