Spartan South Midlands League Division One

Hatfield Town 2 Tokyngton Manor 0

HATFIELD Town continued their superb start to life in Division One of the South Midlands League with a comfortable 2-0 win against Tokyngton Manor.

Wednesday night's win sees unbeaten Town climb to fifth in the table after only winning promotion from the Herts Senior County League last season as Premier Division champions.

The sides were level at half-time at Herns Lane but in the second half Hatfield demonstrated their superiority in front of a decent-sized crowd for a midweek game.

Trevor Golder put the Blues into a 51st minute lead, and Louis Evans made sure of the victory with a second goal in the 85th minute.

Manager Trevor Lloyd has urged caution in recent weeks, insisting that the league is still a relative unknown to him and his squad.

However, after five games played, no defeats and the joint second best goal difference in the league, the future on the pitch at least is looking very positive.

Chairman Ted Collie will be hoping off the field the council will at last sort out a new home for Town, who are currently ground-sharing with WGC.

And if Lloyd and his boys continue to get the results and performances on the pitch, the council might begin to take notice.

Full match report and reaction to come...
