The Ultimate Football Welwyn Garden City Monday night 6 a-side league is into its summer season.
In the Premiership, league leaders Rag Rovers came up against Blackpool.
Blackpool raced into the lead with Dean Sadler pulling one back for Rovers to make it 3-1 at half-time.
After the break, however, things went from bad to worse for Rovers with Steve Charles’s men in rampant form, adding five more goals, Stephen Kealy completing his hat-trick.
This was all made possible by the outstanding performance of Blackpool goalkeeper Sam Giles who made a string of saves to ensure his side remained in the lead.
The final score of 8-2 means Blackpool climb to the top of the league on goal difference, just ahead of SD & Carlton Cole.
Martin Clark’s Volvo Selekt faced Dale Stewart’s Litty Commity.
In a well-contested match, Litty ran out 4-1 winners thanks to a hat-trick by man of the match Charlie Lloyd and one goal by Luke Cooper.
The consolation goal by Volvo came from Martin Clark himself.
In the Championship, Crude Crocs cemented their position further at the top of the league with a 5-0 win over Daniel Green’s Hedgehog.
James Sopher produced a captain’s performance with a hat-trick, with Elliot Sweeney and Alex Washbourne contributing the other goals.
Chris Houghton’s Flumpy FC faced Francis Mardlin’s Neverbee Athletic in a very even game.
Dan Allison gave Flumpy the lead in the first half only for Liam Walklate to equalise.
Flumpy then scored another two through man of the match Chris Kelly and looked to be heading for a victory.
However, Dominic Gillick and Francis Mardlin himself had other ideas, both scoring in the second half to deny Flumpy some crucial points, the game ending 3-3.
Ethan Cooper’s The Toddlers registered an impressive win over Connor Gladwin’s The Mavericks.
In the first half Cameron Rowe and Morgan Harvey gave The Toddlers a great start, with Erjon Dauti pulling one back for The Mavericks.
After the break however The Toddlers hit three more in a row through Frankie O’Shea and two from Morgan Harvey, who completed his hat-trick and earned himself the man of the match award, and although Erjon struck late for The Mavericks, the game was beyond them, The Toddlers winning 5-2.
In the final tie of the night, Mark Zienkowicz’s FC Rangers Old Boys met James Cornwall’s Stroke T who were in a clinical mood.
Tom Cornwall hit four goals and earned the man of the match award in a 9-0 win for Stroke.
