In the Ultimate Football Welwyn Garden City Monday night Premiership, The Old Guard, managed by Neil Doctor, sealed the title with a 3-0 victory over Desert Shadow.

While the title was won by a single point, The Old Guard have played some fine football throughout the season.

Ivory Toast claimed the runners-up spot with a 5-2 win over Blackpool.

Toast captain Ben Smith was first on the score sheet and James Wright made it 2-0 before half-time.

Dalton Fenton pulled one back for Blackpool before Smith hit two more to complete a hat-trick.

David Willis reduced the arrears for Blackpool, but Smith fired home again before the final whistle.

Asim Khan’s Sons of Pitches won the Winter Cup final against Hedgehog. Pitches’ Chris Hood found the back of the Hedgehog net after 10 minutes played.

Nicky Smith, who completed his move to Hedgehog from Blackpool in the recent transfer window, scored an equaliser just ahead of half-time to bring the tie to life.

In the second half Sons of Pitches had the lion’s share of possession and they were rewarded with a Hass Zaman winner to earn them the Ultimate Football Winter Cup.

Jake Lonergan put Welwyn 6’s ahead against Groovy Gang. Marc Winnan levelled, but later strikes from Reggie Ross and Greg Moran gave Welwyn a 3-1 lead at the break.

Daniel Armstrong, the Welwyn captain, netted after the restart and Ross bagged two further goals to complete his hat-trick. Gang’s Josh Paine scored to make it 6-2.

Ross earned the man of the match accolade as he netted a fourth to complete the 7-2 victory.

Jay Lovell, Dan Dixon and Nathan Studholme all bagged first half goals in Rag Rovers’ match against My Dixie.

The second half was won by the same 3-0 scoreline with two further goals from man of the match Studholme and one from Savas Caliskan.

Elsewhere, Free Agents won in their Winter Cup tie to secure the third place spot.
