SSML Division One: Tough defeats for both Codicote and Hatfield Town

They were results that are more suited to the tennis court than the football pitch but both Hatfield Town and Codicote were left feeling smashed after the latest round of Spartan South Midlands League Division One fixtures.

The Blue Boys suffered the worst defeat, going down 6-1 at Amersham Town but Cod fared little better, as they slumped to a 6-3 loss at high-flying Enfield Borough.

Codicote had been on an upturn in fortunes but this was their second defeat in a week, following the 5-2 reverse at home to Winslow United, another team in the top-five of the division, on Tuesday.

The positive side is that they are still scoring goals, Robert Bennett getting two against Enfield and Marc Arnott one, while Thomas Massey and Jack Nevin were the men on target against Winslow.

And if they can sort out the other end, they will be confident of getting a result against Buckingham Town on Saturday.

Hatfield meanwhile are back in action tomorrow night (Tuesday) when they host Broadfields United.
