Tottenham legend Ossie Ardiles has officially opened Welwyn Garden City FC's recently-upgraded football ground.

The World Cup winner was at the Citizens’ Herns Lane ground on Sunday along with Welwyn Hatfield mayor Lynne Sparkes and WGC’s Billy Byrne from DIY SOS.
The work has been carried thanks to a grant from the Premier League through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and has included two brand new stands together with better facilities in the clubhouse and more provision for wheelchair users.

It also features a turnstile acquired following the demolition of Tottenham’s White Hart Lane stadium.
It all means that the Spartan South Midlands League side has achieved the required standards for their current league and the one above, should they win promotion this year.

The opening ceremony also featured a small service of remembrance.
