WELWYN Pegasus Royals Under-9s gave Ware Youth Clarets the blues after beating them 6-2 at the weekend.

James Wood led the way with a hat-trick and there were also goals for Henry Peters, man of the match Louis Fitzgerald and Oliver Harris.

The Royals started strongly and Tom Meenan and Wood both had efforts saved before the team's pressure eventually told.

Harris capped a slick move with a low shot.

Some fast Ware attacks kept the Royals on their toes and the Clarets soon equalised.

A moment of inspiration from Wood saw the Royals regain the initiative. He jinked past a couple of players before despatching a well-placed shot high into the net.

It was 3-1 moments later as Tom Jarman played a neat pass to Peters wide on the right and his cross was put away by Wood.

After Ware had halved the deficit, Wood notched his hat-trick goal. Peters and Fitzgerald then netted.
