The Grove charged into the Macron Welwyn Hatfield Sunday League Cup semi-finals after thrashing Hatfield Seniors 12-4.

Alex Cobbson grabbed four goals for The Grove, Ady Hamill scored a hat-trick. Hamza Khan notched two, while Jay Lovell, Tom Allbrook and Nathan Studholme all grabbed single strikes.

Curtis Warner fought back for Hatfield, scoring all four of their goals but they were well beaten.

Sun Inn Lemsford joined The Grove in the last four after a slender 2-1 victory over Shamrock Rovers Reserves.

Adam Wright put Shamrock ahead but Dan Zienkowicz levelled with a penalty for Sun Inn.

With the game heading for a draw, Manny Chitongo touched in a last-minute winner to see Sun Inn advance. (Video of this goal can be found of Macron WHSFL’s Twitter page).

It was a disappointing day for both Shamrock Rovers sides as their main team were also eliminated from the competition, losing 2-1 to Bradmore Rovers.

Daryl Archer and Ennis Daly netted the vital goals for Bradmore.

Sean Brettell replied for Rovers.

Macron WHSFL wish to extend their sincere condolences to the family of a player who collapsed during a match at Lemsford.

Despite best efforts of all involved he sadly passed away in hospital soon after. All Welwyn Hatfield Sunday League matches on Sunday will mark respect accordingly.

This match involved the former Bradmore 2014 team that played in MacronWHSFL last season and who now play in a Hertford-based league as Hedgehog.
