Tahon's treble seals Great Northern cup win in Sunday League

Bruce Tahon's treble saw The Great Northern to a 5-3 victory over Shamrock Rovers Reserves in the Welwyn Hatfield Sunday League Memorial Cup.

The clash witnessed some great end-to-end football with Daniel Waller and Matthew Chalkley also on target for the victors.

For Shamrock Rovers Jack Hurdy, Callum Wickham and Rhys Hopkins netted.

In the Premier Division, The Rosey secured all three points with a 3-2 win against The Cock.

Mitchell Harrison hit two goals for The Rosey and Daniel Armstrong got the other.

Brad Walsh scored both goals for The Cock who couldn’t find a way to breakdown The Rosey towards the final whistle.

Across the field at King George V Playing Fields, Hatfield Seniors took on Bradmore Rovers.

Rovers dominated the game from start to finish and ran out comfortable 6-0 winners.

Daryl Archer got two goals for Bradmore, while Alex Macdonald, Rhys Monger, Mark Freestone and Daniel Sweeny all got one each.

Shamrock Rovers beat league leaders The Grove 4-3 in a closely matched game.

Two goals for Lee Nymn and one each for Ben Smith and Oliver Rouse saw Rovers home.

The goals for The Grove included two for Dean Sadler and one for Sam Cockhill.

The last game this week saw Hatfield Mosquito take on Sun Inn Lemsford.

Both teams started very strongly with the only goal in the first half coming from Sun Inn.

In the second half, Mosquito lost their tempo and Sun Inn ran away with the game scoring six more in the second half to make it 7-0 at full time.

Goals included two each for Karim Winnan and Martin Farrer and one each for Jason Coughlan, Sean Mboto and Manny Chitongo.
