STRIKER Bruce Tahon fired in a last minute penalty to secure a 2-1 win for Hatfield Town Youth at league leaders Bengeo Tigers on Sunday.
All three goals came in a frantic final five minutes with Hatfield coming from behind to take the three points.
The result was the Hatfield side's eighth consecutive victory.
Hatfield knew only a win would do if they were to stand any chance of catching Bengeo at the top of the Mid Herts Rural Minors League Under-18 Division One.
A goalless first half was not short of talking points.
The away side dominated with the hosts playing on the counter attack.
Hatfield were robbed of a deserved lead when Richard Albon's towering header was scooped out from behind the line by the Bengeo keeper.
Town then had a let off themselves when Bengeo had the ball in the net, only for the referee to spot a foul.
In the final five minutes of the game it looked as though Bengeo were going to take the win when they scored.
Hatfield never gave up and with three minutes left Karl Storey curled in a free-kick.
The keeper under pressure from Anthony Cleaver could only half clear, leaving Richard Albon to head over him and into the net for a deserved equaliser.
Then drama struck in the final minute when Alex Edwards' through ball sent Cleaver clear in the area, only to be clattered to the ground by the keeper. Upped stepped Tahon and he coolly slotted home the resultant penalty.
Richard Albon and Tony Keast were named as the joint men of the match.
