HATFIELD Sports returned to league action on Sunday and kept the pressure on Division Three leaders Peartree Wanderers with a 2-0 away win against Welwyn Campus.

The game was reduced to 35 minutes each half due to a mix up with the official, but Sports were soon into their stride and creating chances.

Midway through the first half a kick from the Welwyn Campus keeper was held up by the wind and Toby Hooton picked up the ball in midfield and played it into Perry Smith.

He turned the last defender before firing wide of the keeper for 1-0.

Sports again poured forward in the second half and only some last-ditch defending kept the score at 1-0.

Late in the half, Tom Mardle collected the ball in midfield and played a defence-splitting pass to Hooton.

He in turn found Dean Evans wide on the edge of the box. Evans laid the ball across the area and Smith met it and netted with ease.

The game really opened up in the remaining minutes with both sides having chances but the game ended with Sports running out 2-0 winners.
