SHERRARDSWOOD Ladies picked up a point on Sunday after a 1-1 draw with Bedford Ladies.

The Welwyn side were one down at the break but fought back and levelled through their leading scorer Jax Bryceland.

In a game that started with torrential rain and a massive thunderstorm, the conditions were tough for both sides. Bedford had some early chances and took the lead when visiting keeper Paula Collis was beaten from six yards.

The first half saw a midfield battle with Jade Ryan and Louise Love holding their own against a strong Bedford side.

After the break, the rain stopped and bright sunshine made playing easier.

Sherrardswood had some early chances and Naomi Totten hit the bar.

Once again striker Bryceland pounced on a loose ball that was struck by Naomi Totten and cleared off the line.

Bryceland followed up and hit the ball past the goalkeeper for a deserved equaliser.

The game was halted for 20 minutes when right back Naomi Swift sustained a nasty knee injury and was taken to hospital.

Sherrardswood continued to defend well and break on the counter attack, but could not get that final winning goal.

The points were shared as Abby Cardell was named player of the match.
