THERE was penalty shoot-out joy for Lemsford Under-15 B side as they won the Comets Youth Tournament at Hemel Hempstead.
It was left to the ultra-cool Ben Merson to score the penalty that won the trophy for Lemsford in the final.
The boys came up against some high calibre opposition, including an academy side from London.
Lemsford entered two teams and both won their respective groups with the A team winning all four games playing some superb football, while the B team won two and drew two.
The quarter-finals saw the Lemsford A team go out following an even contest against Wood Rangers, only to lose by one goal.
The B team progressed with a narrow 1-0 victory over the tournament hosts thanks to a goal from Conor Walker.
The semi-final saw Lemsford B pitted against Academy side Pinnacle B and after a tight contest, Lemsford won thanks to a great finish from Landon Ackord.
The final against Pinnacle A was an excellent end-to-end contest.
Harlan Davies and Adam Hinton defended brilliantly and wouldn't let the opposition get a clear sight of goal, leaving the game goalless after the opening 10 minutes.
Extra time was equally tight but with neither side able to break the deadlock the tie went to penalties.
Goalkeeper Bradley Seal, who hasn't let in a goal in two tournaments other than penalties, made an exceptional save from the very first spot-kick.
Player of the tournament Sam Copeland then put Lemsford ahead.
Pinnacle scored their next two, but it wasn't enough.
Landon Ackord and then the composed Ben Merson won the trophy for Lemsford.
